Black Bears Charity Hockey Raises $30,000 for a New Automated CPR Machine at DRDH
The 18th Annual Black Bears Charity Hockey Tournament is in the books. Lots of good, competitive and close hockey games throughout made for an exciting week. In the end 4 teams emerged as the winners for their respective divisions. Congratulations to Mid Ice Crisis (A Division Champions), Security 1 (B Division Champions), JL Gray (C Division Champions) and CNL Selects (Old Timers Champions).
Although the tournament is a great way to bring our CNL community together outside of work for some fun, the main focus is to raise money within our community. This year, together with all of our sponsors and the CNL community we were once again able to eclipse our total funds raised from previous years. Our grand total raised and to be donated is a whopping $70,000. The funds will be divided as follows: $10,000 to the Steeves family to help with incurred medical costs from Cancer treatments for Kristin, $30,000 to the Pembroke Regional Hospital for a specific instrument needed by the hospital (TBD), & $30,000 to the Deep River District Hospital for a new Automated CPR machine for use in the Emergency Department.
Thank you again to everyone who had any part of making this tournament a success once again including the players of the tournament, those who partook in the trivia night, local businesses who donated prizes to the prize table, the major sponsors who donated money directly to the tournament for expenses incurred, the Petawawa Civic Centre staff for keeping things clean and organized, the volunteers who staffed the bar and the kitchen throughout, the volunteers who worked the prize tables, the trivia night volunteers, the bands who kept us entertained into the night and basically anyone else who came out to support the players teams and tournament in general.
We can not wait to do this all over again next year!
