Trim the Tree Brings Back In-Person Connection

In late November through to mid-December, the Foundation was out in the community collecting donations for the annual Trim the Tree Fundraiser.

Historically, this has been done to hang ornaments on the tree outside at the Town Hall for the tree lighting ceremony at the Holiday Parade. This year, we wanted to extend this initiative and bring the ornaments back to Deep River & District Health to hang on the tree in the ER lobby.

Megan Jones (Events & Fundraising Assistant), Mackenzie Community School co-op student Ava, and a team of dedicated volunteers took turns collecting donations at Ashley's Independent Grocer and Deep River's Giant Tiger up until just before the holidays. We ended up with a beautifully decorated tree full of the names of loved ones from near and far.

We collected over $3,700 in donations this year and connected with so many new faces - it was a wonderful experience!

Thank you to all those who donated and of course, to our tree sponsor Kevin J. Hickey of James J. Hickey Realty - we couldn't have done it without you!
